Greater Manchester bar nestled in a stunning countryside spot

The owners of Whitebottom Farm situated in Etherow Country Park have launched a new bar

Situated between Marple and Romiley in Stockport, Etherow Country Park is one of Greater Manchester’s most picturesque spots.

Boasting more than 200 acres of green space, visitors flock there for its unspoilt woodland, lakes, and marshland. Lying in the Etherow-Goyt Valley, it features a diverse range of habitats, home to a huge variety of wildlife.

Among its most spectacular features are the impressive waterfall and the Keg Pool – the latter originally built as a fishing lake. And it is by this impressive waterfall that Whitebottom Farm sits.

Tucked away just beyond the water, the farm has become known for its numerous music events – notably Moovin Festival held on the August Bank Holiday weekend. The boutique music gathering blending funk, soul, reggae and house draws huge crowds, as do the Craic by the Creek and Buckle & Boots music events too.

While the entrance to Etherow does feature a cafe as well as The Potting Shed – a garden centre and café overlooking Compstall village – Whitebottom Farm is giving those visiting the park another place to stop off now too.

This past weekend, the farm opened ‘Beers at the Weir’ at its entrance, through Etherow Country Park.

It’s here that they’re serving up beers from Hawkstone brewery as well as their own Aberdeen Angus burgers.

Following its partnership announcement with Hawkstone – the brainchild of Jeremy Clarkson and Rick and Emma from the Cotswold Brew Co – the farm decided the natural next step was to offer visitors to the country park and farm somewhere to enjoy a cold one and something to eat over the festive period.

Speaking about the new bar, the owners of Whitebottom Farm said: “We’re a family-run business with a deep passion for what we do, backing farmers, our local community, and the grassroots music scene.

For over 12 years, weve been providing opportunities for emerging artists to perform on the same stage as award-winning, number-one acts.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the local community to enjoy great beer crafted by British farmers in the beautiful setting with the backdrop of the weir.

“We’re proud to offer something truly unique – where people can sample Hawkstone’s beer, savour our own Aberdeen Angus burgers and discover more about the festivals and events we host here. Backing British farming and creating a special experience for our visitors is at the heart of what we do.”

Open on Saturday and Sundays from ’12 til dusk’, the tin cabin overlooks the waterfall, providing a picturesque backdrop for supping a pint and tucking into a burger. There’s some farm-inspired Christmas installations as well as a range of seating too.

The new bar will be open on Saturday and Sunday

from 12pm and is weather dependent. It will also be open the week between Christmas and new year.
