Shopping in Stockport
With a thriving modern shopping centre, an historic core, and a family leisure complex located next to the train station, Stockport is a town of contrasts with plenty to offer. There are plenty of places to pick up essentials, gifts and the like in Stockport.
The Merseyway Shopping Centre has over 60 shops as well as cafés and banks. Princes Street and Warren Street provide further shopping opportunities, as does the Peel Centre retail park. Merseyway is Stockport’s prime retail destination. For quirkier products, Stockport Market has 50 independent businesses selling an array of goods.
Merseyway is built on giant stilts over the river Mersey – hence our name! Merseyway was one of the first shopping centres to open in 1965 and was refurbished in 1995. Currently we’re investing in a programme of activity designed to attract new retailers and shoppers and we’ll be announcing the new tenants over the course of the next few months. We’re proud of our heritage and our role in continuing to attract visitors to Stockport. We strive to live up to our brand promise “famous brands, fabulously close”.
