Rock Climbing in Stockport

Rock climbing was originally used by experienced climbers to practice skills needed for scaling difficult sections of a mountain. These days it takes in the form of bouldering, sport climbing, soloing, ice climbing and traditional or "trad" climbing etc.

 

Rock Climbing is a versatile, physically demanding sport that can be done indoors or outdoors. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber’s strength, endurance, agility, and balance along with his or her mental control. 

 

Almost anyone can rock climb. At beginner level, it caters for people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities, including mental and physical impairments. There are courses for children as young as five and it's not unusual to see people climbing well into their 80s.
