Two sheep from a farm died from drowning in a stream after being ‘chased by dogs’ on Thursday (December 19). The fire service was called to the incident near Bramhall at around 5.30pm.

It is understood a local farmer raised the alarm after dogs, who were not on a lead, chased three sheep into the water around LadyBrook, a stream nearby.

Two of the sheep later drowned and died at the scene. Another was pulled from the water and rescued by fire crews, close to the Happy Valley nature reserve.

It is thought the sheep had fallen into the water before being swept away. Fire crews and animal rescue units had been seen in attendance.

They used specialist equipment to rescue another sheep from the water. It is understood they had been chased before falling into the water at a nearby farm.

The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.
