Stockport CAN Summit

22nd November @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

Join us for this year’s CAN summit to celebrate and grow climate action in Stockport!

Stockport Council’s CAN Summit is open to all residents, communities, organisations, businesses and stakeholders who want Stockport to be a climate-friendly place to live and work. The event will celebrate and share climate actions from communities, young people, businesses and the council through talks, discussions and workshops.

You’ll hear updates from the council, find out about great projects happening in Stockport and choose two of the following sessions to take part in:

Climate, health & inequalities panel discussion – how will extreme weather events impact the health and wellbeing of communities in Stockport and what can we do about it?

Joyful Journeys – go on a playful walk with Civic and Social to put the fun back into our everyday journeys

Growing a Sustainable Food System – explore Stockport’s food system and work together to consider what needs to happen from individual actions through to system change

Green Skills – take part in a discussion and workshop session with leaders from the MDC Construction Hub to explore how Stockport can maximise opportunities from the growing Green Economy and help meet the ‘green skills gap’

Community climate action – come together for an active session that aims to kickstart ideas and collaborations that could go on to get funding or support in Stockport

Community resilience – join the Resilient Cities Network for a session asking how can we be more resilient to climate changes, learn about projects happening on the ground and explore the importance of financial, health and social resilience in dealing with climate shocks
